Data last updated 8th October 2026. Fees are checked against each platform's official pages, all listed on the data sources page.

    • Fee dataOverseas trades are now priced as US trades, which is what most UK investors buy abroad. Interactive Investor charges its UK rate for US shares, Interactive Brokers charges a US$1 minimum, and Charles Stanley Direct is priced at its phone rate, since most US shares can't be bought online there.
    • SiteBarclays Smart Investor is now Barclays Direct Investing, and iWeb is now Scottish Widows Share Dealing. Old links take you to the new pages.
    • Fee dataRe-checked every platform's fees against its official pages. Barclays has dropped its platform fee, Fidelity's FX fee is now banded, Vanguard ETFs are dealt free through batch dealing, XTB charges custody above €250,000, and Interactive Brokers, IG, CMC Invest, Prosper and Freetrade Basic have updated features.
    • SiteEvery platform now lists all the official pages its fees were checked against, on the data sources page and on its own page.
    • SiteRedesigned the site. Every platform page now shows the estimated cost at different portfolio sizes, every comparison is linked from the compare page, and this change log was added.
    • SiteAdded the supporters page.
    • Fee dataAdded IG. Hargreaves Lansdown cut its shares and ETFs fee to 0.35% with a £150 cap and its dealing to £6.95 (£3.95 from 20 trades a month), and now charges £1.95 to deal funds. Interactive Investor moved to its Core, Plus and Premium plans. Lightyear updated its pricing.
